What documents are required to organize sea freight?
The most important documents in sea freight forwarding include:
- Commercial Invoice – a document confirming the sale of goods, required for customs clearance, indicating delivery terms according to INCOTERMS 2020,
- Packing List – a detailed specification of the shipment, including contents, dimensions, weight, and packaging method,
- Bill of Lading (B/L) or Waybill – a transport document containing information about the shipper, consignee, and carrier. It also specifies cargo details (weight, number of units, type of packaging, shipment markings) as well as transport terms,
- additional documents depending on the type of cargo, such as:
- Phytosanitary Certificate – for the transport of plant-based food products,
- Health Certificate – for the transport of animal-origin food products,
- Certificate of Origin.

How long does sea transport from Asia to Europe take, and what factors affect delivery time?
The standard sea transport time from Asia (e.g. China, Vietnam, or South Korea) to Europe is usually 30 to 45 days, counted from the moment of loading to the delivery of goods at the destination port. However, the actual delivery time may vary depending on several factors:
- port of loading and port of destination – the more distant or less connected the ports, the longer the transit time,
- type of transport (FCL vs. LCL) – full container loads (FCL) are usually transported faster than less-than-container loads (LCL), which require additional transshipment and consolidation operations,
- route and number of transshipments – direct routes are faster, while routes with transshipments at intermediate ports may extend delivery time,
- weather conditions and seasonality – storms, typhoons, or peak seasons (e.g. pre-holiday periods) can slow down maritime traffic,
- customs and documentation procedures – incorrectly prepared documents or additional inspections may delay clearance,
- current market situation – port congestion, strikes, or restrictions caused by global crises may also affect transport time.

Can I ship a smaller consignment if I don’t fill an entire container?
Yes, it is not necessary to fill an entire container to use sea freight (this also applies to the transport of food products).
For smaller shipments, we offer LCL (Less than Container Load) services. In this solution, your cargo is consolidated with goods from other clients and shipped together in one container.
This is an ideal option if:
- your cargo does not fill an entire container,
- you want to optimize transport costs,
- you value flexibility and regular shipments.
